Cafes & Casual Dining

Georgie Bass Café & Cookery
Georgie Bass is located opposite the Flinders Hotel and set amongst kitchen gardens, offering a range of innovative and healthy food & beverage options which reflect local seasonal produce.

The Café is open 7 days a week with an all-day menu focusing on wholesome food, most of which is grown in our own garden at Mornington Park. There is plenty of outdoor dining spaces and gardens featuring lush boxes of herbs and flowers, all used in the open plan kitchen. We also have a DIY bike repair station with plenty of space to rest your wheels.

Commonfolk Coffee Company
Tucked away in Mornington’s industrial estate, Commonfolk serves mouthwatering blends that rival the best Melbourne has to offer. The wide-open warehouse space serves as a community hub incorporating recycled wooden benches, communal tables, and an open roastery area that continuously sends fresh coffee aromas through the air.

The warehouse space is shared by other ‘common folk,’ including a silversmith, glass artist, and illustrator, and its courtyard opens up to reveal the storefronts of the Snake Hole and The Nook art galleries. 16 Progress Street, Mornington.

Picknics Café
A former Post Office, Picknics Cafe pumps out trendy eats and smooth coffee in this bowerbird-esque hole with an eclectic, hipster-friendly aesthetic. Located on the strip across the road from the Pier at 2285 Point Nepean Rd, Rye.

Open 7am-2.30PM Mon-Sat, 8AM-2.00pm Sundays.

Merchant & Maker
Lodged between the tourist totems of Rosebud and Dromana, McCrae often gets overlooked.

But this historic hamlet — site of the peninsula’s oldest lighthouse — holds a little gem on its bayside promenade. Merchant & Maker, a “coffee-focused cafe and bar’’, opened quietly last summer and has been pleasing locals since with ricotta hot cakes, smoked salmon scramble and “Bad Ass Baked Eggs”. Oh … and coffee.

Two Buoys
Arguably the best espresso martini on the Peninsula is served at this upscale tapas style local haunt, located opposite the pier in Dromana. Watch the sunset over the bay and enjoy great views, cured meats, cheese boards and craft beers, and a killer music playlist. Open till late 7 days. 209 Point Nepean Rd, Dromana

The Milbri Espesso – Restaurant – Bar
Serving comfort food in a warm and inviting atmosphere, as a casual dining option we recommend Milbri everytime. The service is spectacular and while we love “What you Taco’n bout Tuesdays” and Chimichurri Wednesdays, their mouthwatering ribs alone are worth a visit any day of the week. Find them at 1183 Pt Nepean Rd, Rosebud.

Red Hill Epicurean
From the fresh incarnation of Red Hill’s historic Cool Stores comes the Red Hill Epicurean, Mornington Peninsula’s most innovative and exciting new gourmet icon. Proudly showcasing the finest local produce and wine of the surrounding Mornington regions, Epicurean is a multi-functional venue with a spectacular atrium ‘cucina’ style restaurant, extensive wine tasting area and education centre, bakery, café and cheese larder formaggeria.

Winery Restaurants & Fine Dining

Montalto Vineyard and Olive Grove
Montalto produce finely crafted Mornington Peninsula wine with real character from 6 vineyard sites across the Peninsula. The range of vineyard sites provides great natural diversity of fruit and wine style that is important in making interesting and complex wines. This is showing in wine results, with the estate holding the top red five star rating in Halliday’s Wine Companion as well as numerous trophies and gold medals at national and international wine shows.

The chef’s hat rated Montalto Restaurant is imbued with a provincial spirit, from a personal greeting at the front door to the food on the plate in front of you. Food is inspired by regional France but anchored in the fresh seasonal produce of the estate and region. Floor to ceiling windows take advantage of the breathtaking and rambling rural outlook of vines, olive groves, sculpture, lakes and wetlands, with pasture, and a hint of the ocean as the backdrop.

The adjoining piazza offers simple, tasty food with wine enjoyed in a garden or courtyard table setting. Selected sites within the property are available for elegant, fully catered outdoor picnic dining, ideal for a romantic lunch or unique experience.

Stillwater at Crittenden
Renowned for excellence, Stillwater at Crittenden is one of the best tourism restaurants on Victoria’s stunning Mornington Peninsula.

Its additional dimensions of the nearby Crittenden Wine Centre, Lakeside Villas and extensive visitor information area add to the overall package of Stillwater as a significant draw card for tourism in the region. Specialising in relaxed fine dining, weddings and special events while featuring private dining Stillwater boasts a magnificent lake, manicured lawns and incredible views.

The Long Table
The Long Table has always been known for its innovative seasonal menus and intimate dining experience, but there’s so much more to this much loved Red Hill restaurant and wine bar.

Quality regional produce and personalised service are mainstays of this family owned and run eatery. Andy and Sam have been working hard for the last twelve years to establish a space that showcases local produce (they both have families in the area who provide seasonal harvest to Andy’s kitchen) and the Peninsula’s perfectly palatable wine, beer and cider.

The Long Table’s (and yes, there are plenty of small tables too), capability to re-invent itself every few years means it is renowned for being one of the Peninsula’s most original dining destinations. Now in an exciting new phase of development, Andy and Sam have morphed once again to include a new cellar door. They have also swung open their restaurant doors to lunch time lovers five days a week. Yes, lunch time never tasted so good! There’s a bocce court outside plus bean bags and 5.30pm dinners for families and a range of delicious bar snacks, charcuteries and cheeses to keep adults who fancy an end of the day wine content before enjoying an intimate dinner for two.
