ANZAC Day is a time to remember the sacrifice of our fallen soldiers. On April 25 this year, Australia and New Zealand will both stop to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the landing on Gallipoli.<\/p>\n

The traditional ANZAC Day celebration is of course the Dawn service. Across Mornington Peninsula, there are a range of options depending on where you are staying and what time you wake up.<\/p>\n

From the 5:30 a.m. service in the Hastings Foreshore Reserve to the 2 p.m. event at the Mount Eliza Community Centre, you and your family will have plenty of opportunities to mark the occasion and pay your respects. Other ANZAC events on the peninsula<\/b><\/p>\n

Take some time out of your holiday in Victoria to pin a poppy on your shirt and remember the ANZACs at one of the many services across Mornington Peninsula. Then, once the sombre event has passed, you can return to your break and enjoy some of the lighter commemorative occasions in the region.<\/p>\n

For instance, if your holiday extends beyond the exact weekend of ANZAC Day, the National Trust Heritage Festival is being held on the peninsula from April 19 and May 3. This exciting event, with wine and cheese served to all guests, is focussed on two topics related to the centenary.<\/p>\n

Learn more about the area's history to truly appreciate how the ANZACs changed life on Mornington. Tickets cost $10 each and the event will be hosted at The Briars in Mount Martha.<\/p>\n

Another important event on the peninsula on ANZAC weekend is the Great Songs of the War Years concert being held on Friday, April 24. Featuring local singers and Compere Chris McKenna, this event will showcase some of the best-loved songs from both world wars and is scheduled to be on at the Frankston Arts Centre.<\/p>\n
