Sports and adventure lovers wondering what to do on the Mornington Peninsula<\/a> this January will be challenged at the Two Bays Trail Run, an invigorating event that sees contestants running across the peninsula.<\/p>\n

The race covers 28 kilometres – more than half-marathon distance – from Dromana to Cape Schanck. For ultra-runners who want even more adventure, try the course that takes you from Cape Schanck to Dromana and back again. This covers the huge distance of 56 kilometres, so isn't for the faint hearted. <\/p>\n

The Two Bays run is set to take place on Sunday 11 January 2015, with a 7:00 a.m. kick off time for the short course runners and 7:10 a.m. time for those tackling the long route.<\/p>\n

The run was thought up by Stefanie Rennick in 1984, who thought it would be a great addition to the Victorian 150th anniversary celebrations. The course covers scenic areas including Port Phillip Bay and Bushrangers Bay, with Mornington Peninsula's most famous (and beautiful) landscapes on display.<\/p>\n

Runners should prepare for the 1,000\u200b-foot elevation from sea level up to Arthurs Seat, with incredible views over to Melbourne serving as the reward for conquering this hill. A blue wren bird symbol is located on signs to mark this course, covering single tracks, coastal and grass trails and dirt roads throughout the race. Some of the locations this run takes you on are only accessible by foot, which is a great incentive to lace up your trainers and get running.<\/p>\n

The popular race is currently sold out, but organisers are offering second chance entries to help ensure everyone who wants to can enjoy this run. To enter, you must have completed prior Two Bays Trail Runs, have run a half or full marathon in 2014 or have successfully taken part in another trail run previously.
