Join us for an unforgettable afternoon on the fairway at Moonah Links Resort as we present Long Lunch on the Green: Taste & Tales of Country, a special Melbourne Food & Wine Festival event celebrating Indigenous ingredients, storytelling and the flavours of the Mornington Peninsula. In partnership with with Polperro Wines, one of the Mornington Peninsula’s most respected and enduring wine producers. Renowned for their commitment to estate-grown fruit and locally produced wines that truly reflect the region, Polperro continues to set the benchmark for coastal winemaking.

Celebrate the start of Autumn surrounded by rolling green fairways, this immersive long lunch over four hours will brings together food, wine and culture in a truly memorable setting with live music guest will enjoy an afternoon of discovery, flavour and connection.

Guests will enjoy a beautifully curated four course menu showcasing native Australian ingredients and seasonal Peninsula produce, thoughtfully paired with premium wines from Polperro Vineyard and Even Keel.

Begin with a selection of native inspired canapés including kangaroo sausage rolls with bush tomato ketchup, oysters with samphire mignonette, rabbit croquettes with roasted purple carrot aioli and salt and pepper crocodile with saltbush tartare, served alongside Polperro Even Keel Pinot Gris, a vibrant and refreshing Mornington Peninsula wine offering lifted pear and citrus notes with a crisp finish

A warm entrée will be served of Congo potato bread with warrigal green pesto butter and damper sticks follows, paired with Polperro Chardonnay, before the main event of paperbark wrapped lamb rump with native spice rub, purple potato mash and saltbush cream jus, complemented by Polperro Pinot Noir. Enjoy shared seasonal sides celebrate the region with fresh greens, muntries, finger lime and local produce.

To finish, guests are invited to indulge in a beautifully curated dessert grazing table, a sweet celebration inspired by native flavours and the landscape of Country.

Enjoy delicate crepe logs, pebble stone chocolate creations and rich chocolate soil, alongside vibrant finger lime tarts and fragrant lemon myrtle cake. A flowing chocolate fountain waterfall creates a centrepiece for the table, complemented by silky rosella panna cotta and crisp boomerang tuiles for a playful and memorable finale.

Paired alongside this final course is the Polperro Even Keel Tempranillo 2024, a vibrant Mornington Peninsula red wine. Bright notes of red cherry and plum, gentle spice and soft, velvety tannins create a beautifully balanced wine that complements the richness of chocolate and the brightness of native fruits. Crafted from locally grown fruit and reflective of the Peninsula’s coastal character, it offers a smooth and memorable finish to the afternoon.

Guiding the afternoon will be a respected Traditional Elder from the Nairm Marr Djambaba organisation, sharing stories of the land and its people, offering a meaningful connection to Country and culture throughout this unique dining experience.

With limited seating on the green and part of the renowned Melbourne Food & Wine Festival program, this is a truly special event not to be missed.

Moonah Links is proud to host the Mornington Peninsula edition of the Mother’s Day Classic for a third year in a row. Last year’s event saw over 1000 participants take part in support of and fundraising for breast and ovarian cancer research, raising over $92,000.
