Hop on over to Mornington Peninsula for Easter!

Published on 17th March 2016 in Blog, Mornington Peninsula Events

Easter is around the corner, which means it is time for the legendary Easter Bunny to come hop hop hopping with baskets full of eggs and chocolates.

It would not be a stretch to say that the Easter Bunny has a soft spot for Mornington Peninsula, because every April this stunning coastline of Victoria is home to a raft of fun Easter events. The entire family can enjoy a vacation at this beachy, beautiful and blissful spot of Australia over the Easter holidays, returning home with memories of sweet egg hunts and toes in the sand.

Here's what is in store for Easter 2016 in Mornington Peninsula, so be sure to book your accommodation soon and make the most of all the deliciously exciting festivities!

Mornington's BIGGEST Ever Easter Egg Hunt

Get amped for a spectacular treasure hunt. The Mornington Chamber of Commerce has partnered with other local businesses to organise an inaugural, epic Easter egg hunt in the lush green grounds of Mornington Park.

To be held on Saturday April 20, a week prior to actual Easter public holidays in order to start the fun early, the egg hunt will be a free event. Running from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., the young and the young at heart will be treated to live music, face painting, sausage sizzles, balloon artists and Main Street Mornington colouring competitions for all the budding artists to unleash their inner creative spirits. Keep your eyes peeled for the Easter Bunny himself, as the mascot will be meeting and greeting the crowds and delighting the little ones.

To keep things fair and square across the teams of older and younger kids, the Easter egg hunts are split into categories that vary in difficulty catered to the 0 – 3, 4 – 6, 7 – 9 and 10 – 12 age groups.

Peninsula Family Easter Picnic

Boasting that this event will be an "egg-travaganza" for all who come, the Peninsula Family Easter Picnic's event official website notes there will be performances on stage by none other than the Easter Bunny himself. Music, singing, dancing and interactive games, rides and amusement park theme amenities are on the fun itinerary for Saturday, April 13. There's an opportunity for wee Giggle and Hoot fans to win a chance to meet with Jimmy Giggle, while the Cat in the Hat and Banana in Pyjama characters will also be mingling with the little fans.

Young artists can enjoy creative flair here too, since there will be a free magical craft village where they can create their own Easter masterpiece and take it home as a unique souvenir of your Mornington Peninsula holiday.

Of course, no Easter event would be complete without an egg hunt, and thousands of these chocolate goodies will be hidden around the venue for wee detectives to seek out. Parents are not allowed to assist in the hunt, unless they are helping kids under the age of three, so let the older ones put on their best Sherlock Holmes hats and have a ball.

Held between 10 am – 3 pm on the Mornington Racecourse, with gates opening from 9.30 am onwards, the picnic is a chance to unwind with your family in a colourful, energetic atmosphere with a vibrant vibe. Best of all, proceeds from every ticket go towards charity so you can feel good about giving back to the community as you bask in the great activities.

A place to relax after your sugar high

After all the sweet treats, wind down with a refreshing dip in the Peninsula Hot Springs natural thermal pools next to Moonah Links Resort. These warm baths boast stunning views of the lush verdant green trees of the area, while hilltop pools deliver a panoramic vista over the coastline.
