If you and your loved ones are looking for a peaceful, tranquil escape from the bustling Melbourne city life, then Mornington Peninsula is just the place to go. Boasting sublime coastlines with sand as soft as clouds and aquamarine waves, framed by lush green hills and walkways, the peninsula is a picture-perfect postcard of relaxation. Comprising a variety of historic seaside villages dotted with sweet alfresco cafes and market stalls, there is a quaint elegance to the peninsula that simply oozes serenity.

If you plan your trip here for the month of October, you get to enjoy all of this – and then some. To take the stress of planning out of your holiday, adding to the already stress-free atmosphere here, here is an itinerary for the weekend of 24-25 October. This is arguably the best time to book your Mornington Peninsula accommodation because of the range of events unfolding across the peninsula and nearby regions during this time.

Friday, October 23

Arrive at our hotel after clocking off from work – an easy trip since Mornington Peninsula is only an hour away from Melbourne. Drop off your luggage in your luxurious rooms overlooking our world-class golf courses, and enjoy an exquisite meal at Pebbles Restaurant. Friday dinners don't get much better than this! Quality modern Australian cuisine is dished out, including the freshest local produce and seafood delicacies such as Moreton Bay bugs and oysters. Tuck in for the night after a dip in our outdoor heated swimming pool.

Saturday, October 24

Head over to the inaugural Yarra Valley Hot Air Balloon Festival today.

Be mesmerised by the views of Yarra Valley from a hot air balloon. Be mesmerised by the views of Yarra Valley from a hot air balloon.

It is part of the Yarra Valley Cox Plate Race day. You can reach the valley within just over an hour's drive from Mornington Peninsula, admiring picturesque views of vineyards and seascapes throughout your drive. Because it's so nearby, you can easily enjoy the festivities and make your way back to your accommodation.

Highlights of the event include the launch of more than 12 hot air balloons, which will be lit up in the evening preceding a fireworks display. Visitors can enjoy commercial rides throughout the day, or experience a quicker ascension onboard balloons tethered to the racecourse for a gold coin donation.

Sunday, October 25

Having returned to the hotel from your adventures, enjoy a sleep in on Sunday morning! Sundays are a prime time to unwind, and today is no different. Head across to the nearby Peninsula Hot Springs, which has natural thermal mineral spring pools to soothe you.

There's also an underground sauna, Turkish steam bath (Hamam), cave pool, outdoor hilltop pool showcasing panoramic views of the peninsula, and a reflexology walk. A recipe for relaxation!
