When you stay on Mornington Peninsula, you have a wealth of activities at your doorstep. From Victoria's diverse wildlife to stunning walks along the beach, a holiday in this part of Australia is an experience you won't soon forget.

Arguably one of the highlights of a trip to Mornington Peninsula is a visit to one of its boutique vineyards. Known for some of the best cool-climate wines, the region offers ample opportunities to see fields of grapes, meet winemakers and – of course – imbibe a delicious glass of vino.

Where to start? We've put together a list of some of the finest vineyards in the area. Whether you're seeking a tour or are simply interested in stopping by for a meal at one of the wineries' fantastic restaurants, this activity may very well be a highlight of your trip.

1. Paringa Estate

Visitors love Paringa Estate for its beauty, service, food and fine wine. With spectacular views of the lush green hills outside the restaurant window, this place is perfect for a special occasion or romantic escape.

Try the Pinot Noir and Shiraz to see why this label is known around the world.

2. Crittenden Estate

Family-owned and operated, this cellar door and restaurant duo is not to be missed. Its commitment to using local, sustainable produce only adds to the prestige of its awards and accolades.

Combining the region's strength in Chardonnay and Pinot Noir with techniques from Spain and Italy, you're sure to find a wine that suits your tastes in their extensive range.

3. Yabby Lake Vineyard

More than a pretty face, Yabby Lake Vineyard actually has three locations throughout Victoria, with the mission to create wines that express the unique character of each region.

Visit their cellar door for a casual lunch menu and single vineyard wines in a truly gorgeous setting.

4. Ten Minutes by Tractor

Not one vineyard but three, Ten Minutes by Tractor is one of the finest wineries in the country. It also has an award-winning restaurant, so this would be a great option if you're looking to wine and dine.

The winemakers adhere to a traditional style of the craft, relying on indigenous yeasts to do the heavy lifting. When you visit their cellar door, you can sample Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris and Sauvingnon Blanc while learning from the expert staff.

5. Cups Estate winery

Spontaneous lunch at The Cups Estate Winery. A+ wines and food. Would return.

Located right next door to Peppers Moonah Links Resort, this estate specialises in more than just grapes. Check out the olive grove after stopping by the cellar door or enjoying lunch in the restaurant.
